I have a top load washer and it has a horrible smell coming from inside. I have bleached it, used baking soda, used the packets you get from the store for cleaning a washing machine, and have used vinegar. The smell does not get on the clothes thank goodness, but it's annoying. Any suggestions to getting rid of the smell? Thanks for your help
there is probably mildew on the interior. you can try a long bleach soak or some kind of mildew killer but if it is really on there good it would have to be scrubbed. problem is that you can't reach the internal parts and even if so, if the conditions around it (like your basement) are moist then it will always return.
i have a similar situation with a sink and we just have to clean it a lot and do our best to keep it at bay. It probably is not hurting anything but you could have a mold test done if you are really worried to see if there is anything toxic in there.
