Question about cable splitters?
ok so my tv is plugged into one of those screw plug outlets which gives it cable. if i were to put a splitter on that could i use one end for internet and one end for tv. (i pay for both). if yes what would i need for the internet to work if all i want to do is 1 direct ethernet connection and no wireless. (would i need a modem and/or a router?)
That's exactly what I had for several years. A splitter at the cable interface box on the outside of the house, with one cable run going to my TVs and the other to my Internet modem. Worked fine.
In your case, you'd want to find out if there are other splitters ahead of the cable jack where you want to install your new equipment. Do you have cable jacks in other rooms?
