6 Steps To Successfully Drain A Flooded Basement

To be able to fully drain a flooded basement, you must gather the tools needed, check the environment, turn off the power supply, allow ventilation, pump out the water, and clean up the residue.

Gather the tools needed

Also, be careful when using gas or emergency electric generators for indoor pumping. This, too, is risky and can cause fume accumulation. Slowly pump out 1/3 of the water one day at a time. Measure the water level to check if the water has risen or receded before pumping more out for the day. Check for cracks and damaged slabs as the water level decreases.

Clean up the residue

When all the water is gone, debris, mud, and other residues should be shoveled and cleaned. Wash the walls and remove the silt immediately. Also, disinfect the basement by applying sanitizing solutions in scrubbing the floors and walls.
