HDTV Flat Screen TV - How LCD and Plasma Vary In Technology
It can be difficult to find an HDTV flat screen TV that is within budget and gives value for the money. However, the search is worthwhile when you see your favorite movie with a clear picture and crisp, clean sound. So how do you go about finding an HDTV flat screen TV that is worth the money and will last well? It is true that there is no way to know definitively how long your flat screen TV will last or how valuable it will become. Nonetheless, it is possible to shop smart and make good buying decisions.
The first thing you need to know is that there is a difference between plasma TV sets and LCD screens. Both are featured with HDTV flat screen TV technology and both are rather thin and flat, making them easy to place anywhere in your home, but they feature two different technologies. Your HDTV flat screen TV comes in two different types: plasma and LCD. There is no such thing as a plasma LCD TV.
All of the televisions you find of the plasma variety will be widescreen. They will have a 16:9 screen ratio, which happens to be the standard ratio for HDTV flat screen TV sets. Pretty much all of the plasma models of flat screen TV sets offer high definition ready technology. The screen sizes start at about 42 inches and range to about 63 inches for the norm, but there are some larger and smaller versions available on the market.
LCD televisions tend to be smaller, anywhere from 15 inches to 65 inches. The smaller LCD screens are often utilized as computer monitors. The LCD HDTV flat screen TV is actually lower in price than plasma when you're dealing with the average size of display for the screen, but the larger LCD screens can be significantly more expensive.
There are some product differences between HDTV flat screen televisions that are plasma and LCD. Some of these differences include:
* LCD televisions have lower contrast levels than plasma televisions, meaning that they have a harder time reproducing dark colors and grays
* LCD televisions have slower response times, sometimes creating blurs during fast-paced action sequences in movies or in sports
* LCD televisions have a narrower viewing angle, but can be easier to view in well-lit rooms
* LCD televisions run cooler than plasma televisions
* Plasma televisions are of lower quality when paying lower prices
There are other differences between LCD and plasma HDTV flat screen TV sets. The easiest way to learn the major differences is to watch both types of television in a department or home electronics store. Sit in front of both televisions first, then change angles and view each television from the sides. This will help you to understand how each television works, and can help you decide which HDTV flat screen television best meets your needs.
Are all the choices that are on the market today have you confused? Are you certain that you're open to the possibility to upgrade your technology, but you are not certain what exactly that means? You might be the perfect prospect for high definition television. All you need to know is that you get vibrant, distinct, un-pixilated images right in your own living room. You no longer have to to go to the bar to get projections that are high quality of your favorite team's games. If you haven't experienced the change that high definition can give you, check it out. Pioneer debuts N-30 and N-50 networked audio players: AirPlay, DLNA 1.5 and smartphone apps on tap (Engadget)
Willing to spare no expense to meet your streaming music demands? Then you now
have two more fairly high-end systems from Pioneer to consider. The company
has just released its new N-30 and N-50 networked audio players, which each
boast support for AirPlay and DLNA 1.5, as well as the ability to handle top-
end digital audio like 192kHz/24-Bit FLAC and WAV files. You'll also get a
2.5-inch LCD up front and control apps for both iOS and Android devices,
although you'll have to shell out a bit more for some optional adapters if you
want WiFi or Bluetooth connectivity. The N-50 model (pictured above) also
steps things up with gold-plated RCA jacks and an "armored chassis" designed
to reduce noise, plus support for additional audio features like Advanced
Sound Retriever and Sound Retriever AIR (which promise to enhance compressed
audio files). Look for it to set you back $699, with the lower-end N-30 model
running $499. Some additional details can be found in the press release after
the break.
