In our lab, we calculated 1078.65 ± 3.39 W/m² for the heat flux for a temperature regulated hot plate - Cole/Parmer Dry Bath Incubator. Material is Lexan. Size is 40 mm.

If you have the model #, I could look it up specifically. I *did* go to ColeParmer.com and checked some of the Dry Bath temperature controlled plates. The ones I saw are generally in the 100-250W range.
IF your 40 mm dimension is the side of the square heating area, then I get more like 100,000 W/m² --- 2 orders of magnitude more than you calculate. BUT... to be sure, I need the model # of what you are working with.
